The Day I Was Waiting ForIt seems like this day may never arrive. As a result, I'm most likely not going to be playing PSO2 very often, if at all, due to the difficulties found playing an MMO in Japanese. While my keybinds and macros are helpful in communicating with teammates, it's still really hard for me to understand what they're saying, especially when they use kanji. For now, I bid adieu to my favorite game, and hope that it eventually gets an English localization at some point in the future.

Asiasoft to produce an English PSO 2 server! With the North American server for Phantasy Star Online 2 getting a delay later into the year, the Southeast Asia English server was announced discreetly a few weeks back. The publisher will be Asiasoft, which is also hosting the popular Ragnarok Online 2. I can't speak for anyone else but if this server gets launched prior to the North American version, there is a good chance I will be attempting to create a new account on the Southeast Asia version. The ping is quite reasonable on the JP server, so hopefully it will either be better or not much worse. If outside IP addresses are allowed, then at least the game will be in English, and I can experience the full and complete story line without having to rely on google translate.
Don't get me wrong, google translate is quite good for translating from Japanese to English, but I can't help but feel it's less of an immersive experience compared to my GameCube PSO. The extra bits of story in the disks scattered throughout the zones really made the experience that much more incredible, and it's a feature I'm sorely missing in PSO 2 as my Japanese isn't up to scratch. Hopefully some sort of English server will be released within a short period of time, and then the full experi My computer exploded! That may be an exaggeration, though it would no longer turn on and partially fried my harddrive. As a result, I need to reinstall all my games and applications, and the PSO 2 download is quite lengthy, especially with Episode II on the way. While I am extremely excited to play Episode II, I also cannot afford the extra bandwith usage this month, so I may be taking a break from PSO 2 until the middle of August or beginning of September, whenever my usage seems to be taking a break.
Got my first ever red box item from a Rappy today!A Frog Rappy, no less! This little guy right here dropped a gem for me, and while it isn't the strongest weapon out there, it's pretty darn adorable. I got one more red box from this event, but I can't equip it yet, as I need more DEX (not being a ranger). I am super happy about this gun. I know I could've just bought one from the player houses, but having one that actually dropped for me, instead of always getting Grinders, really made my morning.
I'll update this as I get more information!
If you clear the last CO, you can get the White Parasole~ Quest 1For this quest, I basically just did the first and third forest missions. I know one of the monsters to kill is the little monkeys (Houdin), but I can't recall the first one. Might be the wolves (Gulf) This is the monkey that you need 25 of. I completed it on the level 21 difficulty. I'm about to start these two quests now, unless I get rudely interrupted. Will update as go through completing them. Quest 2 (Mr. Umbrella's Favorite Food)
Quest 3 (Find the Frog Rappy!)
The "Hectic White Day" PSO 2 Emergency Quest is back by popular demand! This is awesome! Some of my friends who just started playing PSO 2 recently weren't able to experience the wonder and glory that surrounds the romantic holiday PSO events, and now they can.
The Emergency Quest will occur at the following times: Thursday, May 16 23:00 JST = 9:00 EST Friday, May 17 23:00 JST = 9:00 EST Monday, May 20 23:00 JST = 9:00 EST Tuesday, May 21 23:0 JST = 9:00 EST This has opened up a world (literally) of opportunities for Nef!I completed my second Time Attack, again not realizing what it was, and wound up in this beautiful environment after the boss fight completed. Hitting 30 also means that I can complete my second class quest, giving me the opportunity to advance to the Fighter Class in PSO 2!
This is a very exciting time. Hopefully I will be able to play more often now, and continue on this epic adventure. Most likely, I'll remain being a Hunter until level 50, so I can complete any Very Hard Time Attacks that my friends want to invite me on (they would squish me quite mercilessly now) until I become a Fighter. Hopefully, everyone else in Ship 2 is looking forward to the May 15 updates as much as I am. See you all online! Emergency Quest 8The new emergency quest featuring the Fang Banthar is pretty similar to the old ones, except that you meet two wonderful wolves who don't appear to enjoy your company in their territory. I've already completed EQ 9, the one featuring Dark Falz and his wonderful arms, once, which means I'm qualified to receive the bonuses; however, he has some of the best items to drop and exp to get, so I'm going to keep trying to catch these quests whenever I can. I'm pretty excited to see "Big Vardha" again, as I've only been able to catch that EQ once before. Here's hoping for some epic red items. My partner and I also managed to get stuck in the Mines Rescue mission, until I managed to find a forum thread that helped explain what the issue was. Apparently, you cannot rescue the fluffy creatures by destroying the robot that is holding them in place. Instead, you must protect them from everything except that one robot until they are able to free themselves. We wound up destroying the robot twice, which obviously was not allowing the fluffy creatures to escape him "under their own power". Whoops. Hopefully tomorrow will go better for us. Dark Falz EQ Campaign #9 "Approaching Dark Arms" To give you a head start, each emergency quest will appear on all ships at the following times and dates.

Emergency Quest source: http://bumped.org/psublog/pso2-jp-emergency-quest-campaign-8-and-9-arks-museum-character-portrait/ The new update has a fantastic looking main hub, along with a new platforming element to the zones. That, and those Frog Rappy's just look too darn adorable to miss. Stay tuned.
FRAPS is currently unable to sense PSO 2With the latest update, Gameguard has prevented FRAPS from being able to see PSO 2 running and record it. Naturally, this is hampering my ability to record, and also lessening my interest in playing the game slightly, as I won't be able to record events for my own purposes.
I have managed to get a few friends into the game, however, so I may update the page with more regularity as they being to play more. Unfortunately, it will be updated with screenshots until FRAPS is able to properly record PSO 2 again. The Easter event just concluded, and I did manage to get a few screenshots of it between my trying to figure out FRAPS and eventually concluding, after discussing it with other members within PSO 2, that I just have to wait it out. |
