Geology can be a real PUNishment.I graduated from Brock University with my BSc., focusing in Earth Sciences, right? Well, I'm stuck taking a General Education option at Seneca College, so I decided to take the environmental one. Turns out, it actually has nothing to do with the environment, but is in fact a geology course.
It's gotten to the point already where I am co-lecturing with my teacher, as my knowledge base is fresher than his is, and more varied. He has actually used my feedback on the lectures, and added in the information I felt was relevant for the students into the next days lecture. It's pretty neat, actually. As it is a regular course, we do have assignments to complete; in this instance, the assignment is an essay that can be completed either by oneself or in a group. Unsurprisingly, I have had a few requests to group up with me. I'm assuming that they expect me to complete the work easily and well. Little do they know that should I accept their invitation to join their group, I will put them to work like none other. They want to get a good grade in my group? They'll learn everything they both did, and did not, want to learn about glaciers. Only when they have proven that they have a firm grasp of the material will we go ahead (we, mind you, not I) and start planning out the essay and dividing the research. At this point, I may end up doing my essay on my own, regardless of their current intentions, as they may simply not want to work that hard. We shall see... I've also come up with some really awful jokes after contemplating what topic I would like to pursue (Basal Slip), so I figured I may as well post them here. They are pretty terrible, hence the "read more" option.

Oh, Aksys! How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Sweet Fuse: at your sideI had all but given up on the PSP system; it has disappointed me from it's initial launch, and nothing really happened to make my opinion of it rise throughout it's lifespan. Truth be told, I actually sold my original 1000 PSP model to buy a DS Lite. I eventually wound up purchasing a PSP last summer to play some games in the Project Diva series, as I have yet to pick up a Japanese 3DS to play the current ones that have released, and that's pretty much all I owned on the system. Until now. This game popped up on my "Upcoming Releases" at work the other day, and it was unique in being the only title launching for the PSP. Period. The title was also quite interesting, so I couldn't resist looking it up. When I did, my brain nearly exploded out of happiness. I love the 999 series, and this looks to be along those veins but with more interactions between the main character and the rest of the cast. The fact that it is showing up in an EB Games Upcoming list means that it has been cleared for a North American release! Hooray! It's another visual novel game, where the decisions the player makes will directly impact the flow of the story. With 14 different endings and the possibility of romantic entanglement, I can honestly see myself playing through this game quite a few times. With 999, I completed three full play-throughs, and this one seems like it has even more to keep the player engaged. You play as Saki Inafune, the niece of Keiji Inafune (a legendary game developer), who has been invited to the opening of her uncle's new theme park. However, during the opening day ceremonies, Count Hogstein blows up the Ferris wheel, takes the park management hostages, and starts up a series of deadly games. Trying to save her uncle, Saki volunteers to be one of the players in Hogstein's games; she'll need every ounce of cunning, determination, and insight to get herself and the other players—all available bachelors—out alive, and maybe even find some love along the way. Many people who post in the forums have been neglecting to post a reform card, or are already banned and have had their thread closed for going off-topic or for being nonconstructive. Yet they persist in the belief that they have done no wrong, and rather that it was the fault of the other players who provoked them into reacting the way they did. "Retaliation is not ok." Riot has stated this time and time again, and this is the core issue that lands many players in the tribunal. Perhaps your teammate made some really bad plays, and just keep dying over and over again. Yes, this does mean that they could be ruining your fun and your game, but there are also 3 other people on your team and 5 other people playing against you. When you rage out, especially in /all, you're dragging innocent bystanders into your train wreck. Instead of one person potentially ruining a game, now there are two who are causing it to be less enjoyable, for the person who isn't playing successfully will most likely try to defend themselves against the rage-filled typing. Sometimes you have a full-blown troll in your game, who forces you out of your lane, into something you weren't prepared for as they did all of this last minute. Your game could already be ruined, as they've essentially changed the game from a 5v5 to a 4v5 due to inappropriate champions/runes/mastery set-ups. This still doesn't give anyone the right to hurl verbal abuse at them, because aside from it being inappropriate conduct, they also aren't the only ones who have to read it. Mute them, play the game to the best of your ability, and report them at the end of the game. Don't go crying out for reports throughout the game; say it once in the beginning if the trolling started in champion select, and once at the end if they continued their negative behaviour. Constantly calling them out in /all will make you look like a negative influence on your team, especially if the one being accused of being a troll stays quiet. The ways someone can be reported are numerous, it's true, but most people who wind up in the Tribunal have a fair number of issues with their games. If you get a reform card, and there's an abundance of cursing, calling people out in /all chat, and general levels of negativity, then maybe you should take it not as a negative, but rather a positive thing to have happened.
Tribunal trolls seem to believe that they can continue their aggressive behaviour without consequence in the world outside of their computer games, and while it may work for some jobs, it will be an instant dismissal in any retail or corporate position. Getting a reform card that highlights the negative behaviours signifies a way to change these behaviours, and hopefully a chance to change them before they become too challenging to overcome. Changing one's behaviour to create a more positive experience can be something that will help once they have to step out of their comfort zone and into a paying, professional environment. If you have been reported, please pay attention to why you have been reported. Get extra opinions from the forums, but please don't disregard them or think that the people who are offering the opinions are harsh, and cruel. The opinions that highlight your negative actions are attempts to show the behaviour that players in the game found to be unacceptable, and would prefer to not see, and is also quite possibly behaviour that you have overlooked or consider to be acceptable. I just noticed that "memorandum" has "random" in it.This is mostly unrelated to everything else I have posted in here, but it actually just helped me out a great deal with a simple tip. Therefore, I'm posting it here so it gets more circulation and so that I can find it easily if I need it. It's quite simple, really; it's a tip on how to insert a solid line into a Microsoft Word Document without having to play with grid lines. I, unfortunately, completely forgot how to do such a simple thing, and had to google it. Luckily for me, the first result was exactly what I was looking for. For convenience, I'm including the text of the site, as well as a link to the site as it has pictures that I am not going to include in this post. Insert Horizontal Lines In Word Documents Quickly When you want to quickly insert a horizontal line into your Word document instead of going through the Borders and Shading dialog box in the Ribbon here is a keyboard shortcut to save you time. In this example I put a simple divider line between two paragraphs in my document. Just type 3 dashes — and hit ‘Enter’ immediately after. You can also change the type of horizontal line you are inputting by changing up the characters you use for this short cut. In the following Word screen shot the green highlighted area shows the various horizontal line breaks possible. Three asterisks***, three underscores___, three equal signs ===, three pound signs ###, and three tildes ~~~ I really am grateful for the people who write these short, concise guides for the Microsoft Office programs; they make my life so much easier, and I'm sure they assist many other people as well.
Thank you! Alright, I finally finished it! Here is my photoshopped version of Leona in a corrupted moon-style skin. I have no idea what to make for her background, aside from liking the idea of having an eclipse as a part of it (the moon is eclipsing the sun). As a result, I'm using the picture you currently see in the background until I can come up with something on my own that will also match the colouring that I did. I've also posted the picture in the League of Legends forums here in the general discussion thread and again in my own thread in the fan art forums and the player concepts forums. I haven't seen the OP on the forums lately, but hopefully he'll see my drawing soon and like it! I'm still learning photoshop, so I'm sure it could be better, but this is my best work so far, so I'm pretty excited about it. If anyone thinks they can do a better job colouring it and wants the original file, I have it available, and may make it available to download. Sources:

Personally, I'm not sure if the vocaloid world needs another young female in their cast, but I am curious as to what her voice would sound like, and what languages she'll be able to sing in. For curiosity, if nothing else, I've decide to "like" her page and become a fan so I can see what this new potential vocaloid could bring to the songwriting community. A new speech synthesizer is out, and currently free to download. This new software seems pretty cool. I'm currently downloading it as I type this, so I'll probably post on it later after I've created a track or two to play with it. I had always wanted to try out a Miku or Luka program, but being part of a new character seems like a lot of fun as well. There have been some problems for people with English based computer systems, so we'll see how it goes. Wish me luck! TPA Orianna Skin on the PBESo far, I like it. I think it's a cute Orianna skin, and I really do love the ponytail. TPA Mundo Skin on the PBE"MUNDO GO WHERE HE PLEASES!" Seriously. What Happened?I am getting exceedingly frustrated now when I go to play ARAM. I don't know what has happened with my MMR or if it even applies, but I am consistently getting paired up with people who did very well in Season 2 of LoL; gold and platinum players. This sounds like a fantastic thing! After all, these players are clearly more skilled than the rest of the player base, and should be able to continue my winning streak.
How I wish that was the case. These players are so bad at ARAM, it almost makes me want to quit playing. They're treating it like it's a regular Summoner's Rift map, sitting back, and farming under the turret. They rarely engage with the enemy, who is able to completely dominate and control the lane the entire game. When they do eventually decide to engage, it happens one at a time or they engage on the wrong target. Here's an example: our tank, Maoki, goes into engage on the Miss Fortune who strayed too close to our turret. An enemy Olaf runs in, and the other four members of the team engage on Olaf instead of Miss Fortune despite them being quite close together (MF was perhaps a step or two behind Olaf, Olaf being closer to the turret now). Our team dies, as they are being freely attacked by Miss Fortune, and Olaf also winds up living. I was under the impression that players who had attained a certain level of skill knew who to focus in a team fight and who not to. Why they can't transfer this knowledge over to ARAM, which is pure team fights, I will never understand. All I can do, I suppose, is to keep playing and hope I get a team that is capable of engaging as a team and that can focus the appropriate target at the appropriate time. -KS Lissandra is available after all!The good news is that Lissandra released with today's patch, despite the initial fear that she would not due to a post by Riot. However, people have been attempting to learn how to play her in an ARAM queue to little avail; here's a quick hint, she needs a ton of cooldown reduction items to be viable and helpful in general, and especially in an environment like ARAM. Some items that have helped me land my combo magic in an ARAM:
These are great, as they have the CDR, plus some extra bonuses without loading you with mana regen, which really isn't needed in the ARAM map due to the passive mana regen and Lissandra's passive. If I were to play her in a regular map, I would definitely pick up at least one mana regen item though. I've also found that while her Q (Iceshard) has the lowest cooldown for all of her spells, it also has a very short range that makes harassing people with it nigh impossible. As a result, I found that maxing out her W(Ring of Frost) and then balancing the remaining points between her Q (Iceshard) and her E(Glacial Path) garnered the best results.
In an ARAM, I did find myself maxing Glacial Path first, mostly as a harass tool, depending on the enemy team composition. When both teams had equal poke without the ability to engage, I found it to be a viable way to contribute, instead of sitting on my hands in a bush. |
