I've been creating custom game modes in Overwatch for a while, and the feedback I've gotten from all participants has been awesome. It's helped me to improve them, and create legitimately balanced game modes. However, I'm always on the hunt for new and exciting game modes to play with my friends.
I host a custom games lobby every Sunday from 4-6 pm EST, and keeping people entertained on a weekly basis is more challenging than I had previously thought. I need to have a good rotation of game modes, as well as constantly adjusting for buffs/nerfs to the characters, on top of creating new modes to keep the tedium at bay. Last week, we tried out one of my older modes, Hide & Seek with multiple hero options instead of my classic Mercy vs Reinhardt. It was fun, but horribly unbalanced, as I created that mode initially prior to December 2016, so it's been over 6 months since I've adjusted how the characters interact with each other and their own abilities. Today, I made it my mission to balance it all out. It took me about 2 hours to go through all the characters, and test to see whether their abilities were too overpowered or lackluster. I think I have a good balance, but naturally, the best way to test it is with a full game. This Sunday coming up will be a mix of All Character Hide & Seek and some Doomfist iterations of previous game modes. Since Doomfist doesn't launch until tomorrow, those modes will have to wait until Friday to be fully tested out. Once my Sunday custom modes are complete, I'll post a link to the updated stats for each character that was changed. Hopefully, once Doomfist launches, I'll be able to create a standardized ult charge timer for 2 minutes for Hide & Seek, at least for my hiders. Stay tuned for future updates, I'll post them both as a blog here, and in the PC section of this site for greater visibility. As always, everyone is welcome to join my custom lobby!

Good... afternoon! Wow, it's later than I thought it was.
I've managed to rearrange my daily schedule to allow some room for creating videos! During my dreary day-to-day work life, I got some experience creating storyboards and looking at video editing, so I figured hey, why not expand on that and see what I can create? To that end, I've decided to start working on a YouTube Channel! At best, it will allow me to share games and things that I love with a wide variety of people. At worst, well, at least I'll finally get through this crazy backlog of games that I bought during all the Steam sales and have never played. Here's a sample of my first ever video! It's not technically public, just unlisted, so if you're here reading this, well lucky you, you get first dibs on seeing my upcoming videos! Hooray! |
Teaching, family, games, how to do it all? I'll try my best! Archives
